Mission

Two locations, one media base and a drive for greater efficiency

Before TESSA DAM, Wein Wolf's marketing team was working offline with a solution that was neither up to date nor equipped with a reliable search. The two locations in Bonn and Hamburg made things harder: files were scattered, collaboration was cumbersome, and a clear overview was missing.

Wein Wolf was among the first customers to make full use of the Adobe Connector and played an active role in shaping the feature. The plugin’s strict requirements led to many custom, time-consuming adjustments. What initially seemed like an obstacle has paid off: The connector now works seamlessly and benefits not only Wein Wolf but also all other TESSA customers who have been using it since then.

Challenge

Large catalogs, complex formats, and a plugin still in development

The new system had to deliver on several fronts: beyond everyday media management, it needed to handle large catalog documents and allow non-designers to preview InDesign and TIFF files directly in the system. Brand managers needed access to the InDesign version history to give quick feedback on files — without having to work in the software themselves.

Wein Wolf was among the first customers to use the Adobe Connector to its full extent. That meant close collaboration on further developing the plugin, many individual adjustments, and ultimately a delayed go-live. Looking back, Wein Wolf helped shape a feature that now benefits many TESSA customers.

Solution

Search, structure, and seamless Adobe integration

The difference from before is tangible in day-to-day work. The previous Finder-based search was clunky and unreliable. With TESSA's search and filter function, the team finds assets quickly and consistently. Internal queries have dropped sharply, the data foundation is cleaner, and unnecessary file duplication is no longer an issue.

The most used features are the Adobe Connector for InDesign, the search function, and collections — which the team uses to share targeted asset packages or topic-based bundles internally.

Akeneo, derivatives, and asset versions

Through the Akeneo PIM interface, product data and media stay in sync across both systems at all times. The derivative function handles automatic export to other file formats. Asset versions consolidate multiple iterations of a file into one, which noticeably cuts down on data clutter. CDN links make it easy to share individual assets directly with external partners.

Conclusion

The TESSA team, together with Wein Wolf, invested significant effort in the development of the Adobe InDesign plugin. The effort paid off: After going live, the system quickly proved its worth and has since become an indispensable part of day-to-day marketing operations. More structured, faster, and location-independent.
